So, I've claimed my username over at GreatestJournal. I don't intend to leave here unless it becomes necessary, but I thought I'd let folks know anyway.

P.S. Be very wary of the bulk file transfer programs. Don't be a fool like me and try to transfer your journal entries before backing up your LJ to a separate source. I lost a bunch of posts using this LJ transfer program, and the support basically told me, "Oh yeah, there's some bugs we still haven't worked out yet." So I'm screwed. It would have been nice to work out the bugs before putting the program out for others to use, but hey..... *sigh*

It's really aggravating to have to move after all these years. This is worse than moving a house--at least you know your stuff is pretty likely to get there in one piece. I thought I heard at one point they wanted to do an IPO. Don't know if that's happening, but I really don't like the idea of having to pick and choose what I write even in my friends locked posts (even if I'm pretty vanilla; the way they went about this whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth).

I heard about the possible IPO as well. And if they're continuing to try and clean house, that could be the motor behind it all. Who knows? But they're certainly picking and choosing about how to apply their own TOS, and that puts everyone into confusion. I can't believe my journal is at risk, despite the prons, but I thought a little homesteading over at GJ wouldn't hurt.
